Coral Agbara

Created in 2008 by the Yoruba Institute for Art and Culture (Instituto Yoruba), with the purpose of presenting folksongs of the Yorùbá tradition, supported by the homonymous language spoken by the african people of the Gulf of Benin, the Choir Agbára – Vozes d’África has peformed  in several spectacles in Brazil. The creation of the Choir was an initiative of the Instituto Yoruba coordinated by  Olúségun Akínrúlí. The songs of the repertoire reflect the Yorúbá cultural matrix with references to mythopoetics called oriki.
